Guerin, an eight-year veteran of the St. John the Baptist Sheriff’s Office, served both in the uniform patrol division and the detective bureau, leaving a lasting impact on colleagues and residents alike. Known for his positivity, dedication, and caring nature, Shaquille was a devoted husband to Roxanne and a loving father to their three children.

🚨 The Shocking Incident

According to authorities, the shooting occurred around 5:30 p.m. on Marigold Lane. Deputies discovered Shaquille lying in the street in front of a home, having been shot at least once. The investigation revealed that the suspect was Shaquille’s brother, Darius Guerin, 32, whose vehicle was later spotted near Ames and Lapalco Boulevards, sparking a car chase that ended in Lafitte. Darius attempted to flee on foot but was taken into custody, and a firearm was recovered along his escape path.

Darius Guerin has been booked with second-degree murder, and the case remains under active investigation. Sheriff Mike Tregre of the St. John Sheriff’s Office described Shaquille as having “the heart of a public servant,” emphasizing the profound loss felt by his colleagues and the community he served.
